Contract Role Outside IR35 - initial 4 months Overview We are looking for an experienced Steel Erector to join a major heavy‑engineering project involving large structural steel assemblies, high‑risk lifting operations and complex installation works. The role requires a qualified tradesperson with a Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card and proven experience working on power stations, energy facilities, industrial plants or similar high‑integrity environments. Key Responsibilities • Erecting, installing and securing structural steelwork, including columns, beams, trusses, platforms and heavy fabricated assemblies. • Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, fabrication plans and lift studies. • Working closely with crane teams, riggers and site management to execute safe and coordinated lifting operations. • Aligning, bolting, welding‑ready positioning and final fixing of steel components to exact tolerances. • Using MEWPs, telehandlers and associated access equipment safely and competently. • Carrying out pre‑installation checks, verifying materials and reporting any defects or discrepancies. • Supporting temporary works installation, bracing, stability checks and structural sequencing. • Maintaining a clean, safe working area and adhering to all site safety rules, permits and RAMS. • Communicating effectively with supervisors, engineers and other trades to ensure smooth workflow. Experience & Requirements • Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card (NVQ Level 2 Steel Erecting). • Demonstrable experience on heavy‑engineering projects such as power stations, refineries, energy‑from‑waste, steel fabrication yards or major civils. • Strong understanding of lifting operations, crane coordination and high‑risk environments. • Ability to work at height and in challenging conditions. • IPAF and telehandler tickets beneficial. • Strong safety awareness and commitment to high‑integrity delivery.
