We are currently working with an award-winning, design‑led structural engineering consultancy that is looking to welcome a talented Project Structural Engineer to their growing team. Operating out of a vibrant, modern studio right in the heart of Borough Market, this practice has built an enviable reputation for delivering architecturally stimulating and structurally challenging buildings. If you are a passionate engineer looking for an environment that champions creative freedom, structural elegance, and direct mentorship from industry leaders, this is the perfect place to advance your career.

This opportunity will place you within a highly collaborative, social team where your voice is heard and your designs truly matter. You will gain immediate exposure to a brilliantly diverse portfolio, taking a leading role on a mixture of large‑scale urban developments, highly intricate, high‑end private residential schemes, and major education sector projects (schools). Unlike at larger corporate firms, you won’t be siloed into one department; you will manage your own projects from initial architectural concept right through to on‑site completion, allowing you to rapidly build well‑rounded technical and commercial expertise.

The objective for this role is to find an ambitious engineer with 3 to 6 years of post‑graduate structural design experience who is ready to step up, run projects independently, and comfortably interface with architects, clients, and contractors. The practice wants someone technically sharp across all core materials who can confidently translate complex architectural visions into structurally sound realities, whilst actively contributing to the studio’s progressive, forward‑thinking work culture.

What’s On Offer
  • Borough Market location: Work from a stunning, high‑spec design studio located steps away from London’s premier food market – ideal for team lunches and after‑work socialising.
  • Guaranteed, Supervised Site Experience: Unlike practices that keep you desk‑bound, this consultancy views regular, hands‑on site exposure as fundamental to your growth and provides structured mentoring on active construction sites.
  • True Hybrid & Core Hours Flexibility: Enjoy a genuinely flexible working policy that includes modern hybrid options and core hours tailored to help you balance your personal life and busy schedule effortlessly.
  • State‑of‑the‑Art Tech & Innovation: Work with heavily funded, cutting‑edge design and computational software, ensuring you are always pushing design boundaries rather than relying on outdated industry habits.
  • Dedicated Chartership & Soft‑Skills Mentoring: Gain access to a tailored internal mentoring programme that doesn’t just fast‑track your route to MIStructE/MICE, but actively refines your client‑facing, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong Social & Wellbeing Calendar: Benefit from regular fully‑funded team social, sporting, and industry events designed to cultivate true studio camaraderie and support a healthy work‑life balance.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Between 3 to 6 years of post‑graduate experience working within a reputable UK structural engineering consultancy.
  • Strong technical design proficiency across all traditional structural materials (steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry).
  • A genuine passion for sustainable engineering, with experience or an interest in reducing embodied carbon in structural schemes.
  • Proven ability to lead smaller projects independently and comfortably act as the main point of contact for architects, contractors, and clients.
  • Familiarity with industry‑standard design software (e.g., Tekla, Tedds, or similar structural design packages).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex engineering concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ambitious to pursue Chartership with either the IStructE or ICE.
  • A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
