We’re working in partnership with a well‑established, design‑led civil and structural engineering consultancy in Nottingham to recruit a highly capable Principal Structural Engineer. This is a senior opportunity offering both technical leadership and strategic input, ideal for an experienced engineer looking to play a key role in project delivery, team development, and the continued growth of a respected regional business.
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of a broad range of structural engineering projects, while supporting senior leadership in managing clients, developing teams, and driving business performance. You’ll act as both a technical authority and a mentor, ensuring high standards across all aspects of delivery.
Responsibilities:- Lead structural design on a range of projects across residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed‑use sectors
- Oversee project delivery from concept through to completion
- Review and approve calculations, drawings, and technical reports
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and technicians
- Support business development, including client engagement and winning new work
- Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality expectations
- Contribute to strategic decisions within the team and wider business
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IStructE or ICE
- Extensive experience in structural design using a range of materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
- Proven track record in leading projects and managing design teams
- Strong technical knowledge of UK codes and standards
- Experience in client‑facing roles and stakeholder management
