Our well-known client is one of the UK’s longest-established consulting engineering practices, known for delivering high-quality, innovative and sustainable solutions across the built environment. With a growing portfolio of major regional and national projects, their Newcastle office is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to help lead and develop their expanding structures team.
The role involves taking a key technical and project-leading role within the Newcastle office. You’ll work on a diverse range of building and civil engineering projects across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial and public realm schemes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on design with team leadership and client interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the structural design and analysis of projects from concept through to completion.
- Manage and coordinate work with internal teams, clients, architects and contractors.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Prepare and review reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to high-quality standards.
- Contribute to bids, tenders and business development where required.

Essential:
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered or near-chartered with ICE or IStructE.
- Strong background in structural engineering design across key materials (steel, RC, timber, masonry).
- Proficient with structural analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, ETABS or similar.
- Ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive approach and passion for high-quality engineering delivery.
Desirable:
- Experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of BIM processes and coordination.
- Contribution to team development and mentoring.
