An established and highly regarded engineering consultancy is seeking to appoint a Senior Highway Engineer to join their expanding London team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a growing business, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including highways, rail, and power & energy.
The Role
As a Senior Highway Engineer, you will take a leading role in the delivery of highway schemes from concept through to detailed design and construction support, working within a collaborative and technically strong environment. You will also contribute to project leadership, client engagement, and the mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of highway schemes
- Highway alignment and geometric design
- Highway drainage design and coordination
- Preparation of specifications in accordance with industry standards
- Design of traffic signs, road markings, pavements and VRS
- Support project delivery across multiple sectors and disciplines
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and statutory bodies
- Mentor and support junior members of the team
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in highway design
- Strong experience using Civil 3D (alignment and modelling)
- Proven experience in highway drainage design
- Good working knowledge of relevant standards and design guidance
Desirable:
- Experience across a range of highway and infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with InfoDrainage or similar software
- Knowledge of traffic signs, road markings, pavement and fencing design
- Experience preparing Specifications for Highway Works
Qualifications
- MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering
- Ideally working towards or holding Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
