Our client is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their busy Manchester office. Reporting to the Associate Director/Associate Engineer, you will lead large civil project teams or oversee multiple smaller teams, ensuring projects are delivered to cost, schedule, and quality criteria. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams across diverse engineering challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of civil engineering designs across major projects.
- Ensure compliance with business quality and management systems.
- Manage resources, skills, and project teams effectively.
- Oversee civil and structural design elements including earthworks, drainage, highways, foundations, and external works.
- Implement change and innovation as directed by senior leadership.
- Maintain client satisfaction through successful project delivery.
Essential skills
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer (CEng MICE/MIStructE).
- Strong knowledge of current civil and structural design codes and standards.
- Experience with CDM regulations and health & safety compliance.
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects across sectors such as nuclear, defence, rail, highways, and life sciences.
- Ability to work within integrated, multi-discipline design teams.
