We are working with a well-known client who is continuing to strengthen its structural engineering team. They’re looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its Derby office. About:
You’ll lead the delivery of structural engineering projects across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, education, and mixed-use developments. This role offers autonomy, client exposure and the chance to influence both project outcomes and team development.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead structural design work in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Oversee project delivery from concept through to construction
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
- Conduct site inspections, assessments, and progress reviews
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practice
About you:
We’re looking for someone confident, technically strong, and ready to take ownership of their work. Ideally, you will have:
- A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Chartered status (IStructE or ICE) or nearing chartership
- Significant experience delivering structural designs across multiple materials
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., Tekla Tedds, Robot, Revit)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- The ability to manage projects, deadlines, and client expectations effectively
