We have an opening for a Flood Modeller to join our clients busy Cambridge office. Our client is a specialist in providing engineering, design and surveying expertise to the construction industry. Our teams deliver professional advice across all stages of a project, supported by extensive experience across a wide range of sectors. This role requires a proactive, self-starting individual with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects and develop client relationships. You must have a solid consultancy background in flood risk, drainage and water engineering to be applicable.

The role:
- You will lead and deliver flood modelling, Flood Risk Assessments and sustainable drainage projects from conception through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency and client satisfaction.
- The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment while demonstrating the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio across multiple sectors and will enjoy the challenges provided by our wide-ranging client base and varied workload.
- Lead and deliver flood risk assessments (FRAs) and hydraulic modelling studies.
- Develop and review models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, or InfoWorks ICM.
- Interpret hydrological data and produce robust technical reports.
- Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- Liaise with clients, regulators (e.g. Environment Agency), and stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development, proposals, and client relationships.
What you need to succeed:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or related field.
- Strong experience in flood modelling and flood risk management.
- Proficiency in key modelling software TUFLOW and Flood Modeller.
- Experience with using InfoWorks ICM.
- Solid understanding of UK flood risk policy and guidance.
- Experience of preparing Flood Risk Assessments.
- Experience of preparing Sustainable Drainage Schemes and drainage modelling software is desirable.
- Experience managing projects and client relationships.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Chartered status (CEng / CIWEM) or working towards is desirable.
