This opportunity is for a Senior Transport Planner in our Birmingham office. You will lead day-to-day technical transport planning for development projects and take on project management and leadership roles where appropriate.

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience leading technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking, sustainable and active travel, using guidance such as NPPF, LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets, and DMRB
  • Expertise in mobility impact analysis across modes for Transport Assessments or Environmental Statements
  • Experience with junction capacity modelling software like Junctions 10 and Linsig, understanding inputs, outputs, and scenario testing
  • Knowledge of strategic transport modelling
  • Project management experience (budget, resources, invoicing) on small to medium projects
  • Understanding of transport infrastructure standards (LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets, DMRB)
  • Strong communication skills and confidence to lead discussions with clients, project teams, and stakeholders including planning and highway authorities
  • Ability to mentor colleagues, especially early career professionals
  • Proficiency in software such as Excel and Word
  • Existing professional network of co-professionals and clients
  • Postgraduate experience as an Engineer/Transport Planner with significant hands-on knowledge
  • Ideally, chartered status or working towards it in a transport-related discipline
  • Interest in transport innovation
