Our client is a well respected civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Wakefield, known for delivering high‑quality engineering solutions across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. They are continuing to grow and are looking for a talented Civil Engineering Technician to join their friendly, collaborative team.

As a Civil Engineering Technician, you’ll support engineers in the design and delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects. You will work closely with colleagues, clients, architects, and contractors, helping to produce accurate technical drawings and contributing to the smooth delivery of each project. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about engineering, detail‑focused, and eager to develop within a supportive and forward‑thinking consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high‑quality Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar CAD drawings for highways, drainage, and infrastructure designs
  • Assist with the preparation of Drainage Strategies, Flood Risk Assessments, and Highway Design Packages
  • Support engineers with project documentation, calculations, and reports
  • Work across multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and meeting key deadlines
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Maintain project files and ensure all work follows company standards and industry regulations

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, strong technical skills, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Essential:

  • Experience in a civil engineering technician role (consultancy experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (and ideally Civil 3D or MicroDrainage)
  • Good understanding of UK drainage and highway design standards
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage workload effectively
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience preparing S104, S38 or S278 drawings
  • Knowledge of SuDS and current UK legislation
