Our client is looking to appoint a talented highway design engineer to play a key role in their growing traffic and transportation business. They are a multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering services across the UK within the construction, transportation, highways, and infrastructure sectors. They specialise in developing active travel, public realm, traffic and transportation schemes and undertaking transport planning studies for public and private sector clients. Often the team are involved in the early vision and masterplanning stages to help develop a strategy from which design projects can be based.

The role:

  • To pursue business development opportunities and building client relationships
  • Supporting in negotiations, and attending meetings, with Highway Authorities
  • Preparing fee proposals for new projects and budget management
  • You’ll be inspiring, developing, and mentoring less-experienced members of staff

What you need to succeed:

  • A good understanding of the principles of transport planning
  • Good presentation and technical writing skills
  • An ability to manage their own time to meet project deadlines
  • An ability to work with other consultancies in multi-discipline teams on development projects including residential, commercial, retail, and leisure developments
  • An ability to project manage smaller and medium sized projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans & Environmental Statement Chapters
  • TPS/CIHT/CILT Membership
  • Experience building, running and understanding the outputs of Junctions 10 and LinSig software
  • Knowledge of highway design in MfS, DMRB, LTN1/20 and the requirements of Active Travel England and Healthy Streets
