Our client is one of the UK\’s largest building contractors and they are looking to recruit an experienced Civil and Structural Design Engineer to join their team on a part time 12-month fixed term hybrid contract.
If you are someone who can work autonomously whilst meeting key project requirements as of part of a wider project team this could perfect for you. You will need to be structured, diligent and a critical thinker capable of managing external design teams and project stakeholders.
The Role
- The ideal candidate will be capable of managing external design teams including relevant civil and structural designers to provide best value solutions for one of our key customers.
- Managing the relevant civil, structural and highways subcontract packages including design cost and programme.
- Co-ordination of the relevant design disciplines to ensure information is received in a timely manner.
- Management and co-ordination of relevant site surveys and investigations including liaison with design teams and supply chain partners.
- Recommending cost effective design and construction solutions.
- Integrating into the wider project team and adopting a collaborative approach
- Inputting into monthly design reports.
- The successful candidate will sit within our clients dedicated bid team and will review, interrogate and co-ordinate design to ensure optimum design solutions are developed.
- Management, review, and co-ordination of all civil, structural, & highways designs on the project.
What you need to succeed
- Previous experience on construction and infrastructure projects in a civil and structural capacity.
- Able to work autonomously whilst also being integrated into a larger team.
- Capable of managing multiple design team partners to achieve a common objective.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation.
- Previous experience with highways designs, section 278.
- Previous experience in cost plan development for civil and structural works.
- Experience in the rail or light rail sector.
- Capable of analysing and critiquing designs and offering alternative solutio
