We have a well known client who is looking to grow their team with a talented Associate Civil Engineer to join the Derby office. The role
As an Associate Civil Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects across the infrastructure and development sectors. You’ll manage project teams, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and contribute to the development of the Derby office through technical leadership and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering design projects from concept to completion
- Deliver highways, drainage, earthworks, and site infrastructure designs
- Oversee production of technical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, project budgets, and deadlines
- Contribute to business development, bid preparation, and client relationships
About
We’re looking for someone who combines technical excellence with strong communication and leadership skills.
Essential:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered or working toward chartership (ICE or similar)
- Strong experience in civil infrastructure design (e.g., highways, drainage, development)
- Proficiency with industry software (e.g., Civils 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage)
- Ability to manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Strong client‑facing and communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience leading or mentoring junior staff
- Understanding of UK planning processes and approval routes (LLFA, S104, S38, S278, etc.)
- Experience in business development or client management
