About the Role
We are seeking a Transport Planner to join a Development Planning team working with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across a wide range of sectors. The team delivers key transport and drainage inputs to support planning, masterplanning and development projects, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies. Clients include developers, landowners, housebuilders, retailers, health trusts, universities, local authorities and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Access Studies, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.
- Undertake technical analysis and use appropriate software to support high-quality technical reports.
- Prepare preliminary highway and drainage designs using CAD and other industry tools.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
- Support the Project Manager in the successful delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality.
- Attend and represent the business at meetings, consultations and exhibitions as required.
- Ensure technical quality and compliance with project briefs and internal standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
- Contribute to business development, including fee proposals and client engagement.
- Build strong working relationships across internal teams.
About You
You will be an experienced transport or development planning professional with:
- Strong experience in the preparation of development-related Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Access Studies, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Designs.
- Competence in preparing preliminary highway and drainage designs.
- Confidence dealing with clients, local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Experience understanding client briefs, developing fee proposals and delivering projects.
- Excellent technical, analytical, report writing and presentation skills.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (CIHT, CILT, TPS, ICE or similar).
- Good awareness of relevant local and national design guidance and planning policy.
- A proactive approach to CPD and keeping up to date with standards and legislation.
- A full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally within the UK.

You will be supported through structured internal and external training and continuous professional development, alongside mandatory and role-specific training.
