We’re seeking a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join us in a hospice setting providing compassionate, holistic care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Working a rotational day and night shift pattern as part of a multidisciplinary palliative care team, the post holder supports patients to maintain comfort, dignity, and quality of life, while also offering emotional support to families and carers.

This role requires a sensitive, empathetic approach and the ability to care for patients at the end of life.

  • Key Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality personal and palliative care to patients with complex needs.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (e. g., temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, blood glucose).
  • Support patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, continence care, and oral hygiene.
  • Assist with repositioning and pressure area care to maintain comfort and prevent skin breakdown.
  • Support nutritional and hydration needs, including assisting with feeding where appropriate.
  • Assist with last offices (care after death) in accordance with hospice policies.
  • Carrying out simple wound management.
