A leading UK-based private real estate investor is seeking a highly capable and ambitious Fund Controller to join its finance team. This is a key role within a dynamic and entrepreneurial business, offering significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape the fund finance function as the business continues to grow.
The Fund Controller will oversee the finance and administration of real estate funds and co-investment vehicles, working closely with internal stakeholders (partners, investor relations, investment and asset management teams) and external service providers. The position offers broad responsibility across fund control, reporting, and financial oversight, with strong potential for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting and administration of real estate funds, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to investors.
- Manage and enhance relationships with outsourced fund administrators.
- Review and sign off quarterly financial statements and NAV reports.
- Oversee fund structures, capital calls, distributions, co-investment, and carry schemes.
- Support the implementation of a new accounting system and greater automation initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to the investment team and support investor relations in responding to queries.
- Manage fund audits, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Limited Partnership Agreements.
- Oversee fund liquidity, FX and interest rate exposures, and relationships with banks and credit providers.
- Contribute to strategic financial decision-making, budgeting, and forecasting alongside senior finance leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience within real estate.
- Strong understanding of fund structures and Limited Partnership Agreements.
- Experience managing audits and investor reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to take ownership of key deliverables.
- Experience managing multiple administrators across jurisdictions.
