Straight-Line Group are seeking a reliable, detail driven Payroll & Accounts Administrator to support our payroll function, servicing recruitment agencies, labour supply businesses, and construction companies across the UK.
This role is suited to someone with solid payroll experience and a working understanding of IR35 and contractor payroll environments, ideally within construction or recruitment.
Location: Office Based
Salary: £30,000 to £38,000 (Dependant on experience)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Process end to end weekly and monthly payrolls PAYE and umbrella
- Manage timesheets, payroll calculations, deductions, expenses
- Submit RTI filings and maintain accurate HMRC records
- Administer pensions and auto enrolment
- Maintain worker records including starters, leavers, amendments
- Support CIS payroll where required
- Reconcile payroll journals and support accounts processes
- Issue payslips, P45s, P60s and payroll summaries
- Maintain audit ready payroll and contractor files
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and construction businesses on payroll queries
IR35 and Compliance Support
- Work with established contracts and payroll processes
- Support IR35 documentation and record keeping
- Flag risks or inconsistencies for escalation
- Ensure payroll activity aligns with agreed worker status decisions
Skills and Experience Required
- Payroll experience in a bureau, recruitment, or construction payroll environment
- Confident using payroll software and systems
- Solid understanding of PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments
- Working knowledge of IR35 and contractor payroll models
- High attention to detail and ability to meet weekly deadlines
- Strong communication and organisation skills
Desirable
- Experience with CIS payrolls
- Exposure to umbrella payroll structures
- CIPP qualification or working towards
