Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:00pm–6:00am

About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing cosmetics and home fragrance manufacturer, for a motivated Line Setter to join their Production team. Our client manufactures a wide range of products including soaps, shampoos, creams, candles, diffusers and other personal care and fragrance products. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is highly motivated to work with production machinery who is looking for a long-term, temp-to-perm position within a busy manufacturing environment.

Please note: Although this is a permanent night-shift position, the successful candidate will be required to complete approximately two weeks of training on the day shift to ensure they are fully trained and confident in the role before moving onto nights.

The Role

As a Line Setter, you will be responsible for setting up and adjusting production lines to achieve the required quality standards and production speeds. You will work closely with Team Leaders and the wider Production and Engineering teams to ensure smooth changeovers, minimise downtime and maximise line performance. Planning and preparation will be an important part of the role, ensuring all machine parts, tooling and equipment required for changeovers are cleaned, prepared and ready in advance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust production lines to achieve target speeds and quality standards.
  • Support Team Leaders during production line changeovers.
  • Prepare and organise machine parts, tooling and changeover equipment ahead of planned production runs.
  • Plan ahead to minimise downtime and improve changeover efficiency.
  • Monitor line performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity.
  • Carry out basic fault-finding and minor machine adjustments.
  • Develop an understanding of basic machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of GMP, housekeeping, health and safety.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production department.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience setting up, adjusting or operating production machinery.
  • A good understanding of production efficiency, quality standards and line performance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in developing machinery maintenance skills.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • A reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • The ability to commit to the night-shift hours following completion of training.

Shift & Training Requirements

Night Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00pm–6:00am

Pay: £14.00 per hour

Contract: Temp to Perm

Training: The successful candidate will be required to work day shifts for the first two weeks as part of their initial training and induction. Following successful completion of training, you will move onto the permanent night-shift pattern.
