Straight Forward Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of their client for
Production Operatives to work within the chilled production area of a pet food manufacturing facility.
You will be responsible for handling frozen and chilled raw meat products in accordance with company procedures and food safety standards.
Key duties include
- Loading frozen blocks of raw meat into industrial grinders and processing equipment.
- Handling and moving chilled and frozen raw materials safely using manual handling techniques or approved equipment.
- Weighing and adding ingredients to production mixers following production specifications.
- Monitoring production processes and ensuring products are prepared to the required quality standards.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the work area and equipment throughout the shift in line with hygiene and food safety procedures.
- Following Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and HACCP procedures at all times.
- Working in a temperature-controlled chilled environment for the duration of the shift.
- Assisting with general production duties as required to support the manufacturing process.
- Working Environment
- Temperature-controlled chill area (typically 2-8 C).
- Regular handling of frozen raw meat products.
- Physically demanding role involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Appropriate PPE will be provided and must be worn at all times.

Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in food production, food processing, manufacturing or working in a chilled environment is preferred but not essential.
- Comfortable working with raw meat products in a chilled environment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties safely.
- Additional Requirements
- Own transport is essential due to the location of the site, as there is no public transport available.
- This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, with permanent positions available for the right individuals based on attendance, performance, and business requirements.
