Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

Straight Forward Recruitment Ltd are looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, for a leading UK grower and processor of high-quality soft fruits.

This is a permanent position within a long established family business, looking for the ideal candidate to enhance their team.

There’s an attractive salary package starting at £50k per year, open to further negotiation, subject to experience, with an enhanced overtime rate of Double-time, as required.

Shift Pattern:

Week 1: Monday to Friday 07h00 – 17h00
Week 2: Tuesday to Saturday 09h00 – 19h00

Skills Required:

The purpose of the role is to undertake both planned and reactive maintenance duties, in addition to completing engineering projects around the site. This would typically involve a 60/40 split between Electrical and Mechanical duties, with the ideal candidate having either a 17^th or 18^th Edition, Electrical bias.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring all duties are carried out in accordance with current legislation and company procedures, particularly relating to health and safety, quality, and environment management.
2. Continuously assess equipment for efficiency and purpose and implement improvements to optimize output.
3. Use line monitoring, fault finding, and problem-solving techniques to maximize utilization of all site equipment, minimizing downtime through scheduled maintenance and continuous improvement.
4. Complete engineering project tasks and make improvements to existing equipment as appropriate.
5. Diagnose faults and propose improvement suggestions, undertaking improvements as required.
6. Install new equipment and relocate existing equipment.
7. Ensure that your work area is kept safe, clean, and tidy.
8. Support factory line setters to address any production line/machinery issues.
9. Carry out any other tasks as requested by the line manager, which the jobholder is capable of completing safely and competently.
