Join a team where your experience truly matters. We are looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our small friendly and enthusiastic practice in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Established for over 100 years, we have built a loyal local client base and are known for being a true community vet. We enjoy supporting local charities along with taking part in some fundraising too. Beaconsfield is a busy town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars plus great commuter links.

Role Details

  • Manage the nursing team and support a positive working culture
  • Manage stocking levels across the practice
  • Organise training to maintain a high level of nursing care
  • Monitor staff performance and coordinate biannual appraisals
  • Organise and attend internal meetings
  • Assist with clinical coaching and support student nurses
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and in safe working order
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team and be involved in continued practice improvement projects

Work Schedule

We work Monday to Friday inclusive with a mix of early shifts 8 to 4 for three weeks and late shifts 12.30pm to 7pm for one week. There is also a 1 in 4 Saturday morning shift 8am to 12pm. We are flexible with rota swaps where possible to support personal commitments and encourage a healthy work and life balance. Daily tea breaks included; a well-earned cuppa and chat is very important here.

About the Practice

You will be working alongside three other members of our nursing team in a well-equipped practice including ultrasound, new DR processing x-ray, dental x-ray, operating theatre for orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue procedures, fully equipped lab, and three consulting rooms. You will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in a senior or leadership role and a passion for team development and high standards. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the confidence to share ideas and lead by example are essential.
