THE ROLE
- Alignment of opportunities ensuring complexity guidelines and bid processes are always met.
- Improvement projects to develop future bid process and governance.
- Maintaining a forecast pipeline of upcoming projects to identify high priority deals as well as times when additional resource may be needed.
- Line management responsibility for team members to manage their day-to-day requirements, job development and training for the future.
- The role includes reporting for the Knowledge Management team (managed by the Knowledge Team Leader).
- Liaison with sales, solution and business stakeholders as needed to ensure Strada proposals are complete, comprehensive and maximise our win rate (and won revenue).
- Provide cover for the Director – Bids & Proposals when needed.
- Ad hoc projects across the globe and other sectors when needed.
- This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to stand for Bid Management and what is efficient and right for Strada.
- It requires strong people management and commercial skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of the proposal management function.
- Liaison with sales, solutions and sales analytics to maintain a pipeline of current and upcoming opportunities with proposal requirements.
- Analysis of the proposal landscape per geography, solution line or similar to uncover potential opportunities.
- To ensure that adequate pre-proposal work is carried out on the majority of proposals, identifying key customer needs and positioning win themes within the submitted content.
- To ensure proposal responses adhere to Strada’s qualification standards and opportunity compliance milestones.
- To act as a reviewer and quality assurance on proposals prior to submission.
- To ensure that the knowledge management function provides strong, winning content to both proposal team members and externally facilitated teams.
- To ensure win:loss debriefs are carried out on closed proposal projects to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Mentoring, leadership and management.
- Line management of a team of Proposal Managers, ensuring strong personnel administration and professional development are in place.
- To mentor junior team members (or oversee mentoring) to ensure that support is available as needed.
- To embed a culture of professional development within the team, aligned with Global Bid Team and market best practice standards.
- To support the Director of Global Bids & Proposals in setting clear, achievable and challenging goals within the proposal operations function.
- Budget, reporting and improvement.
- To support the Director of Global Bids & Proposals in identifying and managing the budget for proposal management resources, tools, systems, training, consultancy and development.
- To report regularly to Strada sales, solution and business leadership on Proposal Effectiveness.
- This should include (as minimum) Win:Loss rates and reasons, attainment to annual goals, revenue and potentials for improvement within the process.
- To develop and deliver training, both inside the Global Bid Management team and out to external stakeholders.
- To maintain a process library describing core proposal and knowledge process documentation.
- To take part in the wider Sales Operations and Strada business improvement catalogue as needed.
- Stakeholder management.
- To maintain a portfolio of stakeholder engagement channels to ensure that Proposal Management is embedded in sales pipeline and wider Strada business operations.
- To act as an escalation point within Proposal Operations.
- To actively engage with a network of Strada (and external) business stakeholders as needed to monitor the health and potential of Strada Proposals.
- Line management of the Knowledge management function.
- Responsibilities for the Knowledge Management function (accuracy, timeliness and availability of content, as well as proposal administration) report into the Manager of Proposal Operations through line management of the Knowledge Management lead.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of five (5) years in a Bid or Proposal Management position with evidence of success.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Accreditation to APMP Practitioner or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership skills including delegation, conflict management, stakeholder engagement and managing a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Systems experience in a Proposal Management system (Loopio preferred), CRM (Salesforce preferred) and reporting (PowerBI or Salesforce preferred).
- Excellent MS Office capability.
- Knowledge of international public bidding pipelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface at all levels of Strada and external partners/customers as needed.
