We are looking for a talented and detail-driven Pre-Press Mac Operator to join a busy internal print department producing high-quality large format point-of-sale (POS) materials. This role is the critical link between creative design and production, ensuring all artwork is prepared, optimised and ready for flawless printing.
You’ll work closely with designers, project managers, and print operators to maintain exceptional brand and quality standards across every campaign.
This role has set hours of 2.30pm – 11.30pm.
Job Role
- Receive and check supplied artwork for print readiness.
- Convert, optimise, and proof files for a range of print machines, substrates, and finishing processes.
- Prepare and adapt files for large format POS print, ensuring correct scale, bleed, crop marks, and resolution.
- Manage the pre-press workflow from file receipt to RIP stage.
- Maintain clear file structures and version control.
- Ensure colour consistency across campaigns using established colour libraries.
- Check proofs for technical accuracy, layout, and quality before release to print.
- Liaise with project managers on brand colour matching requirements.
- Work with designers, artworkers, and project managers to resolve technical file issues.
- Provide print specification and pre-press best practice advice.
- Support print operators by ensuring files are optimised for production efficiency.
- Operate Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) on macOS.
- Use RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, or similar) to prepare files for print.
- Maintain colour profiles, templates, and workflow resources.
- Follow established pre-press SOPs to ensure consistency and quality.
- Suggest improvements to workflow, colour management, and file preparation.
- Keep up to date with large format printing trends and software developments.
