Work-winning
- Lead technical proposal development to align with Client’s specifications and needs during bids.
- Show a solid understanding of commercial and contractual requirements.
- Exhibit a clear understanding of project risks and opportunities, with the ability to define and negotiate appropriate mitigations for both Client and the business.
- Identify clear win themes and communicate them clearly to the bid team and through the bid submission.
- Demonstrate clear and concise communication skills appropriate for presenting to clients and for internal governance meetings.
- Manage a team covering functions including design, planning, environmental, social value, sustainability, commercial and estimating to create a compelling bid proposal.
- Build effective working relationships with key partners such as designers and the wider supply chain.
Delivery/Operations
- Coordinate construction delivery in accordance with the schedule and budget.
- Plan, organise and staff key field supervisory positions with assistance of the Commercial Project Director and the approval of the Project Director.
- Work closely with the Design Engineer and Production Manager to ensure that safety, schedule and budget targets are understood.
- Ensure that all logistics and traffic management complies with and is in accordance with the Employer’s requirements.
- Responsible for the safety, productivity, efficiency, and morale of the workforce.
- Select and justify plant and equipment, for approval by the Project Director and Commercial Project Director.
- Direct the procurement of temporary and permanent materials in a timely manner.
- Review and approve the surface works component of the project schedule.
- Control the contractual performance of the overall works.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field.
- 12+ years’ experience in construction and in a supervisory capacity.
- Broad range of tunnelling experience including SCL, TBM and varied ground conditions.
- Demonstrable major tunnel project experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Leadership skills and an ability to motivate team to ensure a high standard of work.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills for writing and monitoring project plans and schedules and utilising time and resources effectively.
- Resilience and problem-solving skills to overcome unexpected challenges during the construction process.
- An ability to make decisions under pressure so that the project can progress.
- Strong attention to detail developing documentation for bidding, governance and project delivery.
- A detailed understanding of health and safety procedures and legislation to run a safe construction site.
- Maths and IT skills, including knowledge of relevant building methods and project management software to manage information and finances during the project.
