  • Tasks
  • Determining efficient methodologies for works delivery and communicating these to engineers, management and workforce or subcontractors.
  • In line with the project behavioural safety programme, establishing a high performing, collaborative culture within the team.
  • Sharing best practice and lessons learned, including at safety forums, team briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Directing site operations, managing subcontractors and coordinating daily workloads for plant and labour.
  • Setting the highest standards for health and safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project specifications.
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with the programme and budget, identifying strategies to improve schedule and cost performance, planning of material and equipment, ensuring adequacy of information to optimise delivery.
  • Guiding and developing the site teams in line with company culture and values.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in a Works Manager or General Foreman role within the civil engineering sector, specifically focusing on earthworks and highways.
  • Extensive, hands‑on background in bulk earthworks and road construction.
  • Strong understanding of heavy plant operations.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of coordinating with stakeholders, clients, and local authorities.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of regulations relating to the storage, transport, disposal and of soils and other construction waste.
  • Skills Card - CSCS Card.
