Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of the company’s temporary works control procedure in line with BS5975 in the respective areas of responsibility for both self-delivery and subcontractor delivered works.
- Coordinate the timely delivery of temporary works design packages in line with the project programme, working with both in-house teams and external designers/suppliers.
- Oversee inspections, permits, hold points, and compliance with temporary works requirements throughout design, erection, use and dismantling, ensuring the temporary works are safe during all stages of their lifecycle.
- Act as the central point of contact between internal teams, external designers, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and alignment on design deliverables and construction requirements.
- Provide buildability advice, support technical queries, and contribute to meetings to ensure timely and safe delivery of temporary works requirements.
- Maintain accurate temporary works records, manage the temporary works register and ensure all required documentation are in place and accurately reflect the relevant requirements.
- Monitor and verify that critical design elements — including technical interfaces, assurance requirements, and compliance — are properly addressed in accordance with project and regulatory standards.
- Track, manage, and report on the status of temporary works designs, with a strong focus on programme and budget performance, risks, and key milestones.
- Manage and maintain robust document control processes, ensuring design and construction documentation is correctly recorded, tracked, and distributed in line with the project’s requirements.
- Ensure design submissions are uploaded to the relevant document management systems and issued to the appropriate reviewing parties.
- Promote and ensure effective use of project systems (e.g. ProjectWise, AssetWise, and other document control platforms) in line with company procedures.
- Liaise with the Permanent Works Design Management team as required to ensure temporary works being proposed and developed are coordinated with permanent works requirements and limitations.
Qualifications
- Skills card - CSCS Card.
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training.
- Previous experience working in the Civil Engineering sector.
- Strong proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience on a fast-moving project, multiple interfaces, and working within a technical delivery team.
- Strong health & safety knowledge and approach relating to design and site activities.
- Strong communication skills, being able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at different levels.
- Previous experience in Temporary Works Coordination and/or temporary works design or Civil/Structural design (desired, not required).
- Knowledge of BS5975 and CDM2015 principles (desired, not required).
- Membership of relevant professional body - CEng MICE or CEng IStructE (desired, not required).
- SMSTS or equivalent site safety qualification (desired, not required).
