Tasks
- Review the Designer’s Ground Movement Assessments and Monitoring Action Plans.
- Liaise with the wider Design Team to determine third party stakeholders impacted by ground movements due to Tunnel & Shaft construction for the project.
- Manage relationships with affected Stakeholders and managing relationship to achieve Asset Protection Agreements (APAs), Letters of No Objection (LONOs) or Settlement Deeds.
- Working with the Utilities Team to arrange for the protection and/or diversion of utility services affected by the project.
- Work with the Instrumentation & Monitoring Team to ensure consistent approach and correct implementation of the Designer monitoring requirements.
- Identify requirements for structural condition surveys based upon the Designer’s Ground Movement Assessment, liaising with the Surveying Team to ensure site inspections are executed as per the design.
- Coordinate with the Design and Construction teams to ensure all the deliverables and or permissions are in place in a timely manner to facilitate the construction of the Tunnel & Shaft works.
- Liaise with the consents team to ensure discharge of planning conditions.
- Work with the Planning Team to maintain an accurate programme of required interfaces and approvals with third parties.
- Review results of ongoing monitoring and act on any required actions.
- Raise non-conformances taking immediate corrective action whenever possible.
- Review Method Statements and procedures for site-based activities.
- Assist with preparation and procurement of sub-contractors as required.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in asset protection, infrastructure projects, or similar engineering roles.
- Good knowledge of UK regulations, including CDM, health & safety law, and asset-specific standards.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
- Experience in rail, utilities, or regulated infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with permits to work, engineering assurance, and risk-based decision-making.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Competent in risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
- Working knowledge of project management principles and document control systems.
