The IT Local Solution Unit (LSU) Support Technician is responsible for coordinating and implementing IT infrastructure across STRABAG offices and construction sites in the UK. This role focuses on planning, supervising, and delivering network and infrastructure deployments, ensuring new and existing sites are effectively integrated into the corporate network. The ideal candidate has a mix of organisational skills, technical understanding, and the ability to manage multiple external partners.
IT Infrastructure & Network Implementation
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate IT network installations at STRABAG offices and construction sites across the UK.
- Oversee the deployment of routers, switches, wireless networks, firewalls, and structured cabling.
- Ensure all implementations meet corporate standards, security guidelines, and project timelines.
- Co-operate with central specialists from Network/Hosting teams in the selection and configuration of active devices.
Vendor & Partner Coordination
- Work closely with telecommunications providers, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors delivering IT services.
- Coordinate with internal IT teams, site managers, and project staff to enable smooth infrastructure delivery.
- Negotiate and conclude contracts with telecommunications operators and subcontractors (within provided scope).
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners.
Project & Documentation Management
- Manage project schedules, monitor progress, and track deliverables related to infrastructure deployments.
- Organise all documentation related to service contracts, equipment orders, and supplier agreements.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, inventories, and configuration records.
- Manage stock levels of network equipment and coordinate procurement when required.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (frequent contact with suppliers and subcontractors).
- Analytical thinking and sound problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to coordinate external resources effectively.
Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with IT or telecommunications infrastructure installations (advantage).
- Ability to read basic network diagrams and technical documentation (advantage).
Other
- Full UK driving licence (advantage depending on travel requirements).
- Willingness to travel to STRABAG sites across the UK.
