The purpose of the role is to design, manage, coordinate, and deliver mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems throughout a project's lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, budget, and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- To develop and review MEICA designs and technical specifications.
- Manage the procurement of equipment and subcontractors for the project.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and control systems integration.
- Provide support for installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Ensure compliance is maintained in accordance with UK regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Monitor project schedules, costs, risks, and quality performance.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and handover records.
- Provide technical support during construction and operational phases.
- Typical Technical Knowledge
- Working knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, pipework, MCCs (Motor Control Centres), VSDs (Variable Speed Drives).
- A solid understanding of PLC and SCADA systems.
- Experience in instrumentation and control systems.
- A strong background in water and wastewater treatment processes (for utility-sector roles).
- Auto CAD and other engineering design software experience.
- Working knowledge of UK electrical and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- CSCS Card.
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Control, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
- Previous water industry experience.
- Project management and planning experience. Problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
- Stakeholder management and communication.
- Health, safety, and quality awareness.
- Leadership and team coordination.
