Tasks

  • Responsible for assisting the Surveyor (or equivalent) in all Surveying tasks on the HARP Project.
  • In Year 1, the Assistant Surveyor will have on-the-job training in Surveying principles and practices.
  • In Year 2, they will start the Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.
  • An assistant will learn how to do a job under the tutelage of someone skilled in that field.
  • This will be enabled through a clearly defined training and apprenticeship program, which will normally be a combination of on-the-job training & attendance to a training facility or college.
  • Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, security, and environmental matters in conjunction with the HSSE department.
  • Work in the spirit of the company’s guiding principles, ambitions, goals and contributing to best practice.
  • Assist in all necessary survey operations related to the Project.
  • Utilise software e.g. TBC and AutoCAD to process raw data and produce 2D plans and 3D models.
  • Preparation of the required hardware for Survey operations, to include the maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Carry out monthly check and adjust of Survey equipment.
  • Undertake any other work as required by your Senior Line Manager.
  • To undergo training in the chosen field given by the employer or workplace supervisor.
  • To attend College or Training Centre as chosen by the Company.
  • To complete assignments & other assessment tasks as set out by the Company.
  • To take care of any safety equipment/tools provided and ensure it is used correctly.
  • Maintaining a competency record book or work evidence guide, if required.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the appropriate standard.
  • An apprentice is often working in small groups however never alone; the people skills needed in the job are around teamwork and receiving and acknowledging basic instructions.
  • This is an entry-level role within the survey department; in year two the Assistant Surveyor is to undertake a Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 apprenticeship.
  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship programme, the colleague will be promoted to Surveyor.
  • Our aim is to develop and train the Assistant Surveyor and pursue professional accreditation with the CICES.

Qualifications

  • CSCS Card
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths and English.
  • T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction (desirable, not required).
  • Academic reports are required on a regular basis – feedback will be required to enable continual progression throughout the programme.
  • Show a keen interest and be pro-active in Surveying works, be willing to learn and develop key surveying expertise.
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Driving licence.
  • First Aid certificate (desirable, not required).
