Overview
Tasks We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to help deliver our contract for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett. Located at the former Radlett Aerodrome site in Hertfordshire, SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett will deliver a state-of-the-art rail freight terminal with extensive distribution warehouses and over 600 acres of enhanced green space. The development aims to shift freight transportation from road to rail, significantly reducing carbon emissions and road congestion. Construction is anticipated to take place over the next three years. The scheme also promises numerous community and environmental benefits, including biodiversity net gain, employment and training opportunities, and integrated transport improvements.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to site staff on commercial issues within the Project(s)
- Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff on commercial issues within the Project(s).
- Commercial Service Delivery
- Assist in the preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
- Assist in the preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
- Assist in the preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
- Assist in the administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
- Assist in the required contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
- Utilise the costing system.
- Assist in cost control / cost mitigation.
- Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
- Maintain site records.
- Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
- Assist in the preparation of project final accounts
- Drafting of simple subcontracts
Qualifications
- Experience within a construction/engineering or similar background
- Degree qualified, A levels & HNC (construction related)
- Good time management & organisational skills
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
- An understanding of NEC contracts desirable
