Job description Demonstrated success in a Pit Boss role for shaft sinking works, specifically focusing on underpinning & caisson of segmental linings, SCL for shafts, adits and groundwater management in line with BS 6164 requirements.
Extensive, hands-on background in shaft construction.
Strong understanding of heavy plant operations.
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and excavation support sheets.
Determining efficient methodologies for works delivery and communicating these to engineers, management and workforce or subcontractors.
Supporting the project behavioural safety programme to maintain a high performing, collaborative culture within the team.
Directing site operations, managing subcontractors and coordinating daily workloads for plant and labour.
Setting the highest standards for health and safety and environmental compliance.
Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project specifications.
Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with the programme and budget, identifying strategies to improve schedule and cost performance.
Required profile Skills/Experience
Previous experience in shaft sinking using SCL and segmental lining.
Experience/knowledge of working on a major project.
Experience acting as a Pit Boss.
In depth knowledge of BS6164.
Experienced in SCL tunnel & adit works.
Drives Health and Safety Standards.
