Responsible for the shaft sinking works on site, taking a significant role in delivery as well as managing aspects of time, cost and quality. Planning and delivering of site set up for segmental lining and SCL shaft sinking works. Planning and carrying out of SCL trials. Day to day work site coordination and planning to ensure the works are carried out safely and efficiently. Ensuring Permit to Dig, Temporary Works and other safe systems are implemented. Liaison with the Section Foreman and Pit Boss to ensure adherence to safe methods of work. Reporting to Sub Agent / Site Agent. Managing and upskilling of shift engineers. Attending daily SRG meetings and ensuring the RESS is always followed. Ensuring all temporary works needs are identified sufficiently early and completed in accordance with the relevant procedures. Work with the construction and quality teams to complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for the control of the works ensuring that all necessary documentation and check sheets are produced in a timely manner. Procurement of Plant, Materials and Equipment required for each site. Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors attendance. Management of non-conformance reporting. Provide support, assistance, and information to other teams as necessary such as Community Relations, Highways, and Logistics. Ensuring health and safety is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works. Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies. Ensure that the Health Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures are effectively communicated to the workforce and implemented. Work collaboratively with the UU team and other contractors, subcontractors works packages to achieve the overall project goals. Managing the supply chain to ensure that they deliver in an efficient way and in accordance with the Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements. Understands the scope of the works and can identify change.

Required profile:

  • Skills card - CSCS Card (relevant type).
  • Degree / HND in Civil Engineering.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS (relevant type).
  • Knowledge of Project Procedures.
  • IT literacy - Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and recognition of hazards.
