We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Sustainability Advisor to join STRABAG UK’s ever‑growing Build Subdivision to support the delivery of our sustainability strategy across major construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Sustainability Advisor, operational teams, clients, supply chain partners, and external stakeholders to embed sustainability principles throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Providing support and reporting to the Senior Sustainability Advisor on project and business‑related sustainability matters.
- Working closely with operational teams, clients, supply chain partners and external stakeholders to embed sustainability principles throughout the project life‑cycle.
- Understanding key drivers of carbon emissions for a construction company, including scope 1, 2 and 3 targets and roadmap, down to design criteria of specific works on a project.
- Delivering OneClickLCA carbon models for prospective and live projects.
- Drafting and maintaining site‑specific policies and procedures in line with ISO 50001, ISO 14001, ISO 46001.
- Undertaking internal audits and representing STRABAG in external audits.
- Understanding and overseeing projects from the pre‑construction stage until post‑completion.
- Attending internal and external conferences and forums.
- Collaborating across departments to embed sustainability within each team's work.
- Representing and enhancing STRABAG UK’s sustainability framework on landmark UK infrastructure projects.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Attention to detail, methodical approach, strong organisation and time‑management skills.
- A genuine interest in and understanding of sustainability issues and relevant legislation.
- Understanding of UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks relevant to construction.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good communication and influencing skills.
- ISEP registered or similar, with experience in construction/engineering industry.
- Chartered or working towards chartered status.
- Skills required for a CSCS Card (relevant type), where site‑based work is required.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, Python, or similar.
- Follow PAS2080 guidance on all sites.
- Ability to travel to sites up to 3 days a week (require UK driving licence and vehicle).
- Flexibility in weekly work structure.
