STRABAG UK are seeking an experienced and motivated

Engineering Manager to join our growing Power team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the successful delivery of major power transmission and National Grid projects across the UK.

Required

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Engineering or Design Management experience
  • Significant experience delivering major power transmission and distribution projects within the UK market.
  • Strong understanding of substation, overhead line and cable system design and construction.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and external design partner.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a recognised professional institution such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
  • Experience of NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy grid connections and energy transition projects.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated

Engineering Manager to join our growing Power team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the successful delivery of major power transmission and National Grid projects across the UK.

Reporting to the Project Director or Head of Engineering, you will lead the engineering function throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that engineering solutions are safe, buildable, technically robust, commercially sound and delivered in accordance with programme requirements.

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, designers, supply chain partners and operational delivery teams to provide technical leadership from tender stage through to project completion.

As the engineering authority for your projects, you will champion innovation, quality, digital engineering and continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.

Requirements

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple power projects throughout the UK.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with project and business objectives.
  • Provide technical governance and assurance across all stages of project delivery, from tender through to commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage engineering interfaces between clients, consultants, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Oversee design management activities and ensure effective coordination between civil, structural, electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Support project planning, programme development and resource forecasting.
  • Identify and manage engineering risks, opportunities and change control processes.
  • Drive value engineering and innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and industry requirements, including: CDM Regulations, Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR) and National Grid technical specifications and standards
  • Champion STRABAG UK's commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are undertaken in accordance with company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, supply chain partners and internal stakeholders.
