An exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our growing procurement team in Manchester. Working as part of the HARP Project team now is a great time to become a part of the largest critical infrastructure project in the UK.
Previous experience gained in a Buying/Procurement role.
- Aspiring to or already working towards CIPS qualification.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid product and supplier knowledge.
- A working knowledge of contracts.
- Experience gained within a construction/engineering environment.
Provide market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money.
Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of materials.
Construction stage project procurement for Project Leader, including:
- Supporting the production and driving of the procurement schedule
- Supporting the development of work package documents in conjunction with project teams
- Work package procurement.
Support the supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain. Support activities that generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance. Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region. Ensure supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments are maintained. Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations. Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process. Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers. Ensure decisions are not focused upon lowest price but overall best value for money. Support the development of an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional demands and overall strategy. Input to the monitoring of the marketplace to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities. Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional project demand. Support the monitoring of the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position. Support the development of the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits.
