Degree qualified, A levels & HNC (construction related). Commercially astute. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement. Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint). Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others. Programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement, cost, claims.

We require a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based on a major infrastructure project in the North West Scottish Highlands. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a technically unique and long-term project. The role will be initially supporting the commercial lead in pre-contract activities and works preparation before construction activities commence on site later this year. Site works have the potential to continue for the next 7+ years. It would be advantageous for applicants to have experience in tunnelling and/or civil engineering; however, this is not essential. Flexible working arrangements will be considered; however, this is a site-based role therefore applicants should be willing to be based from site the majority of the time.

Role Requirements:

  • To provide assistance, support and advice on all commercial issues within the Project(s).
  • Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
  • Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
  • Development, motivation & performance management of junior staff.
  • Delegation of appropriate work to junior staff, whilst maintaining accountability.
  • Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Preparation of Valuations/Application for payments.
