We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to join our Build Division delivering major industrial and logistics projects across the UK. This role is responsible for leading site operations and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.

  • HNCor Degree in Building Studies or Civil Engineering.

  • Successfulexperience as a section / trade foreman.
  • Demonstrationof knowledge and practical application of the set up and day to dayrunning of a Construction site.

Within our Industrial & Logistical Builddivision, we specialise in the design and delivery of high-quality, large-scalefacilities including distribution centres, manufacturing plants, and advancedlogistics hubs for some of the UK’s leading organisations.** This is a UK wide position. The successful candidate willbe expected to travel between various sites across the UK with the head officebased in Shirley, Solihull. **

Requirements:

  • Providingsite-based leadership for all or section of construction and installationoperations; promoting Health & Safety management, construction bestpractice and management of site construction resources in close liaisonwith the Project Manager.
  • Lead/ Promote high standards of HSEQ on your project and monitor / ensurecompany policies and procedures are in place in accordance with the CPSand statutory requirements. Act when required.
  • Ensurethat the quality of work is to the specified standards set out in the ER’s/ British Standards and that the site team are closely monitoring thequality of work to minimise defects at PC. Empower the Project Team toraise non-conformances through ITP and Fusion Live. Ensure that allreported defects are rectified promptly during the progress of works onsite and ultimately complete all PC snags within 2 weeks of PC.
  • Ensureall new employees, including sub-contract employees, are instructed onSTRABAG safety, environmental and quality requirements, including projectrequirements.
  • Maintainand regularly update the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan andassociated Management Plans. Lead, promote and empower the STRABAGbehavioural safety culture with Staff, Supply Chain and Client. Ensure theSTRABAG Project Team and Sub-Contractors are aware of theirresponsibilities for the contract and that all their operations areplanned to deliver a safe system of work. Understand the roles andresponsibilities of STRABAG in relation to the CDM Regulations.
  • Lead,promote and empower the Behavioural Safety culture with Staff, SupplyChain and Client. Promote STOP! THINK! ACT! 1-2-3 Choose Safety. Encourageclose call reporting amongst STRABAG Project Team and Sub-Contractors.
  • Implementand maintain Daily, Weekly and Monthly meetings. Ensure that theBehavioural Safety Plan is maintained and updated as necessary.
  • EnsureBehavioural Safety Model is implemented and adhered to when applicable.
  • Ensuremandatory 6-point personal protective equipment is correctly used by allsite personnel or as identified within the task specific RAMS.
  • Proactivelyparticipate in Behavioural Safety reviews and HSSE Monthly InspectionReports, closing out any non-conformances identified within the allocatedtimescales.
  • EnsureSub-Contract method statements are in place, approved and briefing recordsare in place in advance of the commencement of works. All RAMS to bestrictly adhered to. Pre-start Safety Meetings to be arranged andconducted for all ‘High Risk’ activities.
  • Ensureall proposed Sub-Contract Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and / orChecklist Control Forms are in place and approved 2 weeks in advance ofthe works being undertaken.
  • Prepareand maintain all mandatory daily / weekly site inspection records (HS&Einspections, Environmental inspections, LOLER and PUWER inspections,excavations and scaffolding inspections).
  • Implementand maintain permit to work systems in accordance with the requirements ofCPS / IRIS (Excavation, Working at Height, Lifting, Steps / Ladder Permitsand Confined Spaces).
  • Prepare,circulate and monitor 2 weekly look-ahead Sub-Contractor programmes.
  • Produceweekly Sub-Contractor progress meetings and formal distribution of meetingminutes.
  • MaintainTarget Construction Programme.
  • Carryout statistical reporting (hours worked, incident reporting, wasterecords, etc.).
  • Ensuredaily lookahead shift Supervisors’ meetings are carried out and recorded.
  • Contributeto buildability and value engineering based on extensive skills andexperience.
  • Monitorsite activity progress against weekly, fortnightly and overall programmetarget dates.
  • Ensurethat all Site Supervisors including Sub-Contractors are aware of theirresponsibilities for the project.
  • Hasfull input and ownership of resources and material aspects for siteforecasts including controlling Plant and Labour.
  • Whererequired, this will include preparation of site purchase orders / materialrequisitions and plant orders to align with STRABAG procedures. Customerand Stakeholder Satisfaction
  • Promoteand maintain a proactive, courteous and professional culture /relationship with the Client, Design Team and Supply Chain.
  • Cancommunicate with Clients, Public and Senior Site Staff to promote Companypolicies and procedures.
  • Ableto identify and control operational risk and opportunity and feed into theMPR.
  • Identifyand maximise any profit-making opportunities through design developmentsand VE without exposing STRABAG to risk and feed into the MPR.
  • Liaisewith Project Commercial Lead with reference to Sub-Contractor scope ofworks, attendances and Prelims under supervision.
  • Liaiseclosely with Project Commercial Lead on cost recovery of non-recoverablevariations and ensure contemporary records are in place to feed into theMPR.
  • Ensurenecessary record keeping relating to site correspondence, daily allocationsheets, reconciliations, diaries, delay notices, clean up notices, CVIs,RFIs to protect STRABAG and ensure this is fed into the MPR to showcurrent and planned position.
  • Proactivelyassist in the education and training of Foremen and demonstrates excellentman management skills.
  • Assistthe Project Manager with the Staff Performance Reviews for Operationalstaff under supervision.
  • Ensureall staff / supervision under guidance are competent for the tasks andresponsibilities given to them.
