About the Role
Assistant Surveyor (entry‑level) supporting the Surveyor on the HARP Project at the Bolton site. In Year 1 you will receive on‑job training in surveying principles and practices. In Year 2 you will begin the Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship, with the goal of progressing to Surveyor upon completion of the apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities
- Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, security, and environmental matters in conjunction with the HSSE department.
- Work in the spirit of the company’s guiding principles, ambitions, goals and contributing to best practice.
- Assist in all necessary survey operations related to the Project.
- Utilise software such as TBC and AutoCAD to process raw data and produce 2D plans and 3D models.
- Prepare the required hardware for survey operations, including maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Carry out monthly checks and adjustments of survey equipment.
- Undertake any other work as required by your Senior Line Manager.
- Attend training in the chosen field as directed by the employer or workplace supervisor.
- Attend college or training centre as chosen by the Company.
- Complete assignments and other assessment tasks as set out by the Company.
- Take care of safety equipment and tools, ensuring they are used correctly.
- Maintain a competency record book or work evidence guide, if required.
- Ensure all work is completed to the appropriate standard.
- Work in small groups, consistently applying teamwork skills and following basic instructions.
Qualifications
- CSCS Card.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English.
- T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction (desirable, not required).
- Academic reports required on a regular basis – feedback will be needed to enable continual progression throughout the programme.
- Show a keen interest and be proactive in surveying works, willingness to learn and develop key surveying expertise.
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Driving licence.
- First Aid certificate (desirable, not required).
Apprenticeship Path
After completing the initial on‑job training, you will begin the Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be promoted to Surveyor.
