Electrical Engineer

An opportunity has opened for a Contract Electrical Engineer to join a specialist engineering team delivering bespoke electrical systems for complex, high-spec projects across the industrial and maritime sectors.

This role is ideal for a hands-on contractor who brings solid design experience, can operate with autonomy, and deliver high-quality work to tight project timelines.

The Role

You’ll be supporting project teams in the design, development, and documentation of robust electrical systems. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and documenting detailed electrical schematics
• Generating system-level requirements and technical specifications
• Selecting appropriate cables, protective devices, and components
• Reviewing and validating electrical designs against project needs
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Attending internal reviews and contributing technical expertise
• Ensuring designs comply with applicable electrical standards

Key Requirements

Essential:

• HNC (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Proven experience in electrical design and documentation
• Strong understanding of component selection, schematics, and safety standards
• Familiarity with electrical CAD tools (Zuken E3 desirable)
• Ability to work independently and deliver to agreed milestones
• Proficiency with MS Office and design documentation

Desirable:

• Experience in defence, maritime, or high-reliability environments
• Knowledge of electronics integration
• Prior contractor experience in project-led engineering settings

Contract Overview

• Competitive day rate based on experience
• On-site work required in Rugeley, with some hybrid flexibility
• IR35 status: Outside/Inside considered depending on engagement
• Immediate start preferred
