Hours per week: 8:30am – 3:15pm (30 mins lunch break), Monday to Friday (31.25 hours per week). Term time plus 3 days INSET training days per year.

The governors of this successful primary school wish to appoint a high calibre Teaching Assistant to work in our Early Years, Year R team. The successful candidate will join our enthusiastic, committed, and professional team of staff. Specific training or experience of the Early Years Foundation stage would be desirable.

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience of working with children in an educational setting
  • be self-motivated and able to use their own initiative
  • follow direction from the class teacher and SENCo
  • be proactive in adapting resources and activities
  • work as part of a team, with excellent communication skills, a sense of humour and the ability to share ideas and learn from each other
  • have high expectations for children’s learning, behaviour and personal development
  • have a resilient and flexible approach as the day may not always go as planned
  • be 100% supportive of fully inclusive education for children with additional needs
  • support both indoor and outdoor learning
  • Maths & English GCSE grade C/level 4 is desirable, and must be confident using IT
  • be willing to support children’s medical & care needs when necessary
  • be supportive of the school’s Christian ethos
  • work within an equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory framework and to be an advocate of all aspects of diversity within our school community

This role will suit a graduate (or equivalent) who may be looking for school experience before pursuing teacher training. St Peter’s is a fully inclusive school where we attempt to identify barriers to a child’s progress so that they can make at least good progress during their time in school.
