Stowmarket Town Council, based in Suffolk, serves as the first tier of local government for the historic and thriving market town of Stowmarket. With a population of approximately 21,000 across four wards, the council comprises 16 elected members and a dedicated team of over 30 staff members. Meetings are held biweekly in the iconic John Milton Room at Milton House, reflecting the town's rich heritage. Stowmarket is well-connected by rail, providing easy access to Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, and London.

Role Description

This is a part‑time, on‑site HR Business Partner role based in Stowmarket. Responsibilities include partnering with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies, supporting organizational performance, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Business Partner will also be responsible for talent management, providing HR guidance to staff, managing recruitment and onboarding processes, and implementing training and development programs.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of talent management, recruitment strategies, and onboarding processes
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and compliance standards
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficiency in HR software and tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (CIPD qualification is a plus)
