This role is working in localised regions of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk Role Purpose To provide expert leadership and operational support across multiple care homes, stepping in as interim Home Manager where needed. The Peripatetic Home Manager ensures continuity of care, maintains regulatory compliance, and drives service excellence during periods of vacancy, transition, or improvement. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership * Step into Home Manager duties at short notice across designated homes * Lead teams to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care * Ensure each home operates within CQC standards and organisational policies * Support transitions during openings, inspections, or change management phases Staff Management & Development * Stabilise team culture during leadership gaps or staff challenges * Conduct supervision and support performance reviews where needed * Mentor Deputy Managers and emerging leaders for succession planning * Deliver onboarding and oversight for new team members Compliance & Governance * Conduct internal audits and risk assessments, reporting findings to senior leadership * Implement action plans to address regulatory shortfalls or operational risks * Ensure robust documentation, care plans, and safeguarding protocols are in place * Liaise with CQC, local authorities, and safeguarding teams when required Resident Experience * Champion dignity, wellbeing, and resident voice at all times * Engage with families and professionals to support positive outcomes * Respond to concerns promptly and implement service improvements * Promote enriching activities and nutritional standards tailored to each home Key Relationships * Regional Operations Team * Clinical Leads and Deputy Managers * Registered Home Managers * Support Functions (HR, Training, Quality Team) Person Specification Essential * Proven experience as a Home Manager in residential or nursing care * Thorough understanding of CQC regulations and governance frameworks * Strong leadership, crisis management, and change delivery skills * Ability to travel extensively across the region (car owner/driver) Desirable * NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management or equivalent * Experience across dementia, nursing, and complex care services * Familiarity with electronic care planning and reporting systems What We Offer Competitive salary of £60,000 – £70,000 per annum depending on experience Holiday allowance of 34 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays).
