As a Care Home Assistant Practitioner in our company, you are at the forefront of a new way of working for our homes. This new role allows people with over two years' experience and with, or desire to work towards an NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care within a care environment to take on a higher level of responsibility and reward. Stow Healthcare CHAPs combine their caring activities with an extended range of clinical skills, such as administering medication and delivering minor wound care. CHAPs always have the support of the Registered Nurses in our homes. Moreover, they help to lead and supervise staff, meaning there are opportunities to further develop your management skills.

The skills you'll need:

  • You’ll have a minimum 24 months’ care experience, ideally in a supervisory position, in an adult care home or possibly within the NHS – with at least a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social care and working towards Level 3, or the desire to achieve it within 12‑18 months of taking on this role.
  • You’ll also be driven and not afraid of a challenge, with a good communication style that will allow you to lead other team members and work effectively alongside our nurses.
  • The successful candidate must have a minimum Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care and must achieve level 3 within 12‑18 months after employment in the role.
  • A minimum of 24 months experience of working in a health & social care setting.
  • You will be a caring and empathetic person, who is always focused on delivery of quality care for your residents.
  • You will be computer literate, with good basic spelling and literacy skills, and basic numeracy and problem solving skills.
  • You will have good verbal communication and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • The role requires a flexible approach as hours will vary to reflect the work patterns and needs of the business.

The training you will benefit from:

We have put together an excellent intensive programme of learning, tailored to the challenges we know you will face. Your training will overwhelmingly be face to face training with a qualified clinician. After around three months you should have completed your training programme and will feel confident, once your competency has been assessed, to carry out your role effectively.
