The Senior Compliance Manager supports the Compliance function in maintaining an effective risk-based compliance framework, providing independent second line oversight and challenge to the business. The role also acts as the senior lead for Data and Personal Data, supporting the Data Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide compliance advice, oversight and challenge to the business.
  • Deliver compliance monitoring in line with the Compliance Plan.
  • Maintain and enhance the compliance framework and associated reporting.
  • Support implementation of new or amended regulatory requirements.
  • Attend governance forums and prepare compliance-related papers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor while maintaining independence from the first line.
  • Review and draft compliance policies, procedures and training.
  • Support engagement with regulators and group compliance teams.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer, including GDPR advice, monitoring, training and regulatory liaison.

Experience and skills

  • Proven experience in compliance, second line oversight or regulatory advisory roles, ideally within financial services or market infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements (Bank of England, PRA, FCA).
  • Familiarity with market infrastructure regulation and standards (e.g. CSDR, international FMI principles).
  • Experience engaging with regulators.
  • Strong judgement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a changing regulatory environment.
