Technical Lead (CommerceTools / Azure / MACH)
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 month (rollling)
Location: Hybrid - ad hoc travel to Hampshire
Rate: negotiable, outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership for a modern composable commerce platform built on Commercetools, MACH architecture and Microsoft Azure.
The role combines technical leadership, production support and engineering delivery. You will lead incident resolution, drive continuous improvement, review technical solutions, mentor engineers and contribute directly to code where required.
Responsibilities

  • Lead technical delivery across production support, incidents, defects and platform improvements.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex issues and major incidents.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
  • Review code, architecture and engineering practices.
  • Troubleshoot issues across APIs, integrations, frontend applications and Azure services.
  • Improve reliability, automation, observability, testing and deployment processes.
  • Support knowledge transfer and establish strong technical ownership of the platform. Essential

Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with Commercetools and composable commerce platforms.
  • Deep understanding of MACH architecture, APIs, microservices and cloud-native systems.
  • Hands-on TypeScript / Node.js engineering experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure Functions, App Services and serverless architectures.
  • Experience with React / Next.js and modern headless commerce solutions.
  • Proven background supporting high-volume retail/eCommerce platforms. Technology Experience Experience across:
