This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to play a key role in strengthening the compliance framework, with a focus on data protection and personal data risk.

In this role, you will help design, implement, and maintain a robust, risk-based compliance programme. You will provide independent oversight and practical guidance on compliance risks, particularly in relation to GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Acting as a trusted adviser, you will support governance forums, enhance internal controls, and promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and challenge on compliance risk management
  • Conduct compliance monitoring in line with the compliance plan
  • Support the ongoing development and effectiveness of the compliance framework
  • Produce clear management information and risk reports
  • Assist with implementation of regulatory changes and control improvements
  • Contribute to governance forums and stakeholder updates
  • Review policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Support engagement with regulators and internal stakeholders
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer with GDPR compliance activities
Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory advisory within financial services
  • In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, Bank of England)
  • Solid understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive and adaptable approach in a changing regulatory environment
Desirable
  • Familiarity with international market regulations and standards
  • Experience supporting Data Protection Officers
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CIPP, CIPM, CISA)
Background
  • Degree in a relevant discipline; professional qualifications advantageous
  • Around 5+ years' experience in compliance or risk within financial services
