Interim Head of Development Management & Building Control
Start: ASAP

Location: Morden
Rate: £500-600 p/day (inside IR35)
We are supporting a local authority client in the appointment of an experienced Interim Head of Development Management & Building Control to lead a large multidisciplinary planning and regulatory service during a key period of regeneration and growth. This is a senior leadership opportunity overseeing Development Management, Building Control, Planning Enforcement, Conservation & Arboriculture, Planning Administration and Land Charges functions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage Development Management & Building Control services
- Oversee major planning applications, appeals and enforcement matters
- Drive regeneration, placemaking and service improvement initiatives
- Manage Planning Committee activity and member engagement
- Lead stakeholder engagement with developers, consultants and external agencies
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across the service
- Manage operational budgets, performance and income generation activity
- Lead multidisciplinary teams within a complex local authority environment
- Proven senior leadership experience within Development Management and/or Building Control
- Strong local authority background
- Experience managing large teams and complex planning functions
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, enforcement and building regulations
- Experience working within politically sensitive environments and alongside elected members
- Track record delivering regeneration and transformation programmes
- RTPI membership or equivalent professional accreditation preferred
