Global DevOps Lead

Type: Permanent

Location: Remote (option for hybrid working in London)

We're looking for a strategic technology leader to drive DevOps transformation across a large, enterprise-scale technology environment, leading global teams and embedding best practices across engineering and operations. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll define the DevOps operating model, champion automation, and improve software delivery, reliability, and cloud operations at scale.

The Role

As the Global DevOps Lead, you'll be responsible for establishing and leading a global DevOps practice, working closely with engineering, cloud, and operations teams to deliver a modern, automated, and scalable platform. You'll drive DevOps strategy across infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, SRE, and cloud optimisation while influencing senior stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a global DevOps operating model, including governance, standards and best practices.
  • Lead the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, automation and Site - Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
  • Champion enterprise-wide DevOps transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering and cloud teams to establish clear ownership across DevOps and infrastructure.
  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of enterprise monitoring and observability using Datadog.
  • Build scalable deployment pipelines that improve release quality and speed.
  • Establish and monitor DORA metrics, driving improvements in deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and recovery times.
  • Identify opportunities to automate operational processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Mentor and lead globally distributed teams while fostering a culture of collaboration and engineering excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • 12+ years' experience in DevOps, including significant experience leading enterprise-scale DevOps teams.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling DevOps functions within complex environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Azure DevOps, including governance, process design, dashboards, integrations and Communities of Practice.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Datadog across infrastructure monitoring, APM, logging, distributed tracing and alerting.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure and deployment strategies.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python and/or Bash).
  • Solid knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.

Desirable Experience

  • Azure DevOps Expert or Azure Solutions Architect certifications.
  • Experience working within Agile or SAFe environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or change management frameworks.
