We are looking for an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Technician to join a high-power R&D team, supporting the development and testing of prototypes, demonstrators and experimental systems. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with practical experience in electrical, mechanical or multidisciplinary assembly within an engineering, laboratory, manufacturing or R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, assemble and modify prototypes, test rigs and demonstrator systems
- Work from engineering drawings, schematics, specifications and work instructions
- Carry out testing and measurements using engineering test equipment
- Operate and maintain laboratory, workshop and engineering equipment
- Complete inspections and quality checks on builds and assemblies
- Troubleshoot and fault-find mechanical/electrical build issues
- Support engineers with prototype development and design improvements
- Manage components, materials and laboratory consumables
- Maintain a safe, organised and compliant laboratory/workshop environment
What We're Looking For
- Active UK SC Clearance - essential
- Background as an Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician or similar
- Strong practical, hands-on assembly and build experience
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation
- Experience using test and measurement equipment
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D / engineering environment
Important: This is an engineering technician position, focused on electrical/mechanical systems, laboratory work and prototype development - not a medical laboratory technician role.
