Clearance: Active UK SC Clearance - Essential

We are looking for an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Technician to join a high-power R&D team, supporting the development and testing of prototypes, demonstrators and experimental systems. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with practical experience in electrical, mechanical or multidisciplinary assembly within an engineering, laboratory, manufacturing or R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble and modify prototypes, test rigs and demonstrator systems
  • Work from engineering drawings, schematics, specifications and work instructions
  • Carry out testing and measurements using engineering test equipment
  • Operate and maintain laboratory, workshop and engineering equipment
  • Complete inspections and quality checks on builds and assemblies
  • Troubleshoot and fault-find mechanical/electrical build issues
  • Support engineers with prototype development and design improvements
  • Manage components, materials and laboratory consumables
  • Maintain a safe, organised and compliant laboratory/workshop environment

What We're Looking For

  • Active UK SC Clearance - essential
  • Background as an Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician or similar
  • Strong practical, hands-on assembly and build experience
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation
  • Experience using test and measurement equipment
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D / engineering environment

Important: This is an engineering technician position, focused on electrical/mechanical systems, laboratory work and prototype development - not a medical laboratory technician role.
